Call Me Charlie Brown

Don't you hate that feeling of standing at an out-of-state airport baggage claim as one by one, people in the crowd take their bags and leave? You just KNOW yours will be the one bag that didn't make it onto the plane.

Yeah, I hate that too.

Especially when I'm the LAST guy standing there, and the baggage carousel stops, empty.

So, do you think an ensemble of denim shorts, tennis shoes, and a black t-shirt is acceptible for a job interview?

I Have, I Need

One of the things I came up with for the church many moons ago was the "I Have" and "I Need" sections for the bulletin board. I don't remember ever utilizing it, though many have and still do. Today, I find myself wishing I had access to that bulletin board. But I guess my blog will have to suffice.

So here's what I have: in my garage, I have several pieces of storage furniture to give away...

1) A countertop with 2 drawers and 5 cabinets (3'h x 9'w x 28"d). This has a sink in the right side.

2) A workbench with 12 drawers (37"h x 6'w x 2'd). This has a 3/4" plywood top.

3) 2 cabinets (36"h x 24"w x 24"d), each with a drawer.

4) 1 cabinet with 3 shelves (30"h x 24"w x 12"d)

5) 1 cabinet (36"h x 18"w x 24"d) with one drawer.

And here's what I need:

1) A vacuum cleaner

So, if you're able to take or give, please email me or give me a call at 630-5951. Thanks in advance.

Green Green Grass

Well, after some backbreaking dirt moving over the last two days, and a plethora of people showing up to help lay sod, my yard is done. A HUGE "thank you" to everyone that helped.

I was informed by one man that he and some others refrained from helping on principle, to express their disapproval with the choices I've made. My response was that when Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish, He didn't instruct the disciples to tell the people in the crowd who had unrepentant sin that they weren't allowed to have any. "While we have opportunity, let us do good to all people," Paul said (Gal. 6:10). I am included in all people, and I give praise to God that so much good was done to me today.

Grace for Gossips

"The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him." - Proverbs 18:17

How many times did I preach that? Literally thousands. What a shame that the gossip flying around about me has failed to take that into consideration.

No one has called me asking, "Ron, I heard this said about you. Is it true?" Instead, like ignorant lemmings, they dial the phone and repeat the story. How pitiable.

Do you honestly want to know where I'm at? Here ya go: People will believe about me what they will. They will gossip about me what they will. They will spread their accusations, spread their lies, spread their manure. But you know what? It doesn't matter to me. Because I am Ron Daniel: a person that Jesus loves, a person that Jesus was abused and butchered for. He saved me - not because I was a pastor, a church builder, or nice happy guy. He saved me because I couldn't save myself. And to Him alone I will stand or fall (Rom. 14:4).

Those who go about as talebearers are doing the work of the devil (1Tim. 3:11, 2Tim. 3:3; Titus 2:3). Of course we all know that God hates divorce (Mal. 2:16) - but rest assured: He hates religious hypocrisy far more (Matthew 23).

Don't misread my tone: I am not angry. God forgives gossips just as He forgives those who get divorced. That's what's so great about grace: it's abundant for the undeserving (Eph. 2:8).

Sod Party

As many of you know, I have been (and continue to be) going through the absolute worst time of my life. Though it would be easier to simply stop breathing, the hard truth of life right now is that I have much to accomplish in a short period of time. (The biggest thing is that I have to sell the house before I quickly run out of money.)

So, I'm having to swallow my pride and ask for help with a project.

In order to get my house ship-shape for selling, I need a new front and back lawn. The sprinklers are in and the ground is prepped. I just need some strong backs (and hopefully at least one experienced brain, 'cause I've never done this) to help me lay 300 rolls of sod.

This will be happening Thursday (July 20th) after 5pm, and Friday (July 21st), starting at 7am. If you're able to give me a hand on either of those days, please shoot me an email and let me know which day.

Thank you.
